Claude Plans / Model Explorer
v. 04 / 2026
A field guide to Claude

Which Claude fits
the job at hand?

Five plans, three models, one decision. An opinionated map of what each tier of Claude is actually good for — with real use cases, performance trade-offs, and a calculator that tells you the honest answer.

§ 01 / Plans
The five plans, compared

Filter by audience. Click any card to highlight it; scroll down to see which one the calculator recommends for your workload. Prices below Anthropic's public list rates as of April 2026, annual billing where applicable.

§ 02 / Models
Opus, Sonnet, Haiku — three sizes, three jobs

All three current-generation models ship inside paid Claude plans. The differences are real but not absolute: Haiku handles most daily prompts fine, Sonnet is the workhorse, and Opus earns its keep on the hard stuff. Relative performance bars are calibrated from Anthropic's public benchmark positioning.

§ 03 / Use cases
Ten real jobs, matched to a model

Pick a task on the left. The right panel shows the prompt, the recommended model, and a frank comparison of how each model would handle it — quality, speed, and whether the cost delta is justified.

    § 04 / Calculator
    What should you be paying?

A rough model, because Anthropic describes usage in relative terms (Max is 5x or 20x Pro, etc.) rather than exact message counts. Adjust your daily volume and task mix; the calculator estimates monthly cost per plan and flags the best fit. Treat the output as directional, not contractual.

    Daily active users 1

Messages per user per day 20
    5 / light300 / power
    Task mix
Casual: short prompts, mostly Haiku-class work.
    Features you need
    Basic: chat, web, file upload.
    Estimated monthly cost
For 1 user doing 20 casual messages/day, Free covers it.
    § 05 / Sources & caveats

What this page is and isn't

    1. Plan pricing: claude.com/pricing. Pro $17/mo annual ($20 monthly), Max from $100/mo, Team $20/seat standard ($25 monthly) and $100/seat premium, Enterprise $20/seat + usage.
    2. Model availability: All paid plans include Opus, Sonnet, and Haiku. Free includes Sonnet only per Anthropic's current plan sheet.
    3. Usage multipliers (Max 5x/20x, Team premium 5x standard) are Anthropic's published relational figures. Exact message counts vary by model and task and are not officially pinned.
    4. Performance bars are relative, calibrated from Anthropic's own positioning of each model. Not independent benchmark scores.
    5. The calculator is directional. It assumes a rational user won't exceed their plan's soft caps. Real-world pricing for Enterprise is negotiated.
    6. Last verified against Anthropic's public pricing page in April 2026. Plans and prices change; if you're making a procurement decision, check the source.
